Hawaiian Falls - Monday, August 3

Since this is happening on Monday, I thought I'd go ahead and send out an announcement today. Several people have asked to have a group day at Hawaiian Falls, and Monday's the day! Hawaiian Falls is always fun, but it's even better with a friend. So come join us!

On Mondays throughout the summer, members of the Maui Moms club can get in FREE with the purchase of a Little Kahuna (child's) ticket before 12 noon. You must have a coupon for this offer. Visit http://www.hfalls.com/waterpark/maui-moms-coupon.html to print out a coupon. Also visit www.hfalls.com for more offers.

Week of July 26

It's a busy week! Lots of fun and FREE activities to choose from.

Tuesday, July 28, 9:00 am: Southwest Dairy Farmers Mobile Dairy Classroom - Located at the Hugh Smith Recreation Center. City children get a chance to see where milk really comes from when the mobile dairy classroom rolls into town. This program is for children ages 4-12. I’m not exactly sure what this is, but I think it might include real cows. As Tyler said, sounds “stinky” but fun.

Wednesday, July 29, 2:30 pm: Storytime Theater, "Jack & The Beanstalk" - Dottie Lynn Recreation Center – Arrive at least 30 minutes early. The talented actors of the Storytime Theater troupe will present “True Story of Jack and the Beanstalk.” This program is for children ages 5-12.

Thursday, July 30, 2:30 pm: Bongo Bob & His Coconutty Buddies - Southwest Branch Library - Arrive early! “Bongo” Rod Butler of Radio Station KCBI returns to the library with his Tube Dudes and other crazy puppets for an afternoon of humor and positive messages. After the show, children will be able to make their own tube dude to take home. This program is for children ages 4-12.

Friday, July 31, 3:00 pm: Free Family Friday at the Fort Worth Museum of Science & History. While it’s under re-construction, the exhibits are located in the National Cowgirl Museum. Visit http://www.fwmuseum.org/exhibits/fff.html for complete details and directions. Let’s meet in the lobby of the museum at 3:00. Please leave a comment if you plan to attend this event so we know who to expect.

Just Between Friends

Have you heard of Just Between Friends? It's a consignment sale that happens all throughout the metroplex. The Dallas/Mesquite chapter is hosting a Back to School consignment sale at the Mesquite Rodeo Exhibit Hall July 30-August 2. It costs $3 to get in on 7/30 but after that it's free. You can find gently used children's clothing, toys, accessories, baby gear and more for cheap! It could be a great way to get your kids ready for school without breaking the bank. Or if you're a new or expecting mom, you can get some really expensive baby items for TONS less than brand new. Visit the JBF Dallas site for more details. http://dallas.jbfsale.com/

If you're interested in consigning or shopping another time, the Fort Worth chapter's sale is coming up in early September and the Arlington chapter's sale is in October. The Arlington sale is at North Davis and "leftovers" are donated to Hearts & Hands! Visit http://www.jbfsale.com to find out more details about each sale.

Week of July 19

Wednesday, July 22, 9:30 am: Alvin & The Chipmunks is playing at the Cinemark Theater in Mansfield at 9:30 am. Cost is $1. You should plan to arrive about 15-30 minutes early. Alvin & The Chipmunks is rated PG. You can see a review at http://www.pluggedinonline.com/movies/movies/a0003545.cfm

Friday, July 24, 2:30 pm: Super Dave & Big Ern at the Southwest Library in Arlington. Space is very limited, so arrive EARLY to get a ticket. I would get there around 1:30 to be sure you get in. This musical duo combines catchy tunes and silly antics that children love. They will keep you smiling and humming along with a program full of songs and fun. This program is for children ages 5-12. (We went last year when Tyler was 4 and he loved it!)

If you plan to attend either of these events, please comment and let everyone know!
